As of 26/02/2024 Bermagui Local Post uses the UnMonumental Style Guide.
Strikethroughs
We strikethrough the term Australia (e.g. Australia) to interrupt the colonial name.
We also strikethrough all other colonial place names, like New South Wales or Eden, and colonial ideas or impositions like the Australian government or Australia Day.
We do not strikethrough elements of an address (e.g. Moorhead Street).
We do not strikethrough Bermagui, as this has roots in the Dyirringañ word permageua, nor do we strikethrough other derivations or corruptions of Aboriginal place names or words.
Dual place names
When an Aboriginal name is available, we use it before the crossed out colonial name: Baranguba Montague Island or Najanuka Little Dromedary Mt.
